Recently, a sea rail intermodal special train carrying a batch of Baoding Baigou characteristic luggage departed from Beijing Xiongbao International Smart Port and headed towards Qingdao Port, seamlessly transferring to an ocean going cargo ship to Budapest, Hungary. This is the first time that Baigou luggage has been directly transported to Europe through the "market procurement+sea rail intermodal transportation" model.
Hebei Baigou, known as the "Capital of Chinese Luggage", was approved as a pilot for national market procurement and trade in 2016. In the past decade, the luggage and bag industry in Baigou has developed rapidly. By 2025, the export value through market procurement trade will reach 11.459 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.52%. At present, there are more than 7000 luggage and bag production enterprises in the local area, with an annual output of 1 billion bags and bags. The products cover the full range of needs from high-end business to outdoor equipment, with more than 2500 categories, and are exported to more than 200 countries and regions.
In the fierce international competition, Baigou luggage has long bid farewell to the simple price war and is accelerating its leap towards "Baigou intelligent manufacturing" and "brand going global". In the past, Baigou bags and suitcases exported through "market procurement" needed to be transported by car to Tianjin Port, cleared customs at the port, and then shipped overseas. With the rapid development of the luggage industry, enterprises are facing new challenges such as fragmented foreign trade orders and high logistics timeliness requirements.

Local small and medium-sized merchants can complete the grouping and consolidation of goods nearby, with only one declaration and one inspection. After the goods arrive at Qingdao Port, they can be directly loaded onto ships for sea through the "direct loading upon arrival" method, effectively resolving problems such as segmented declaration and repeated loading and unloading in the traditional transit mode.
The combination of policies is very in line with the export characteristics of Baigou bags with multiple varieties and small batches. Our logistics costs have been reduced by an average of 30%, the efficiency of cargo assembly has been improved by 50%, and the transportation time has been increased by more than 20%, "said Chu Yixiao.
