Fujian's imports and exports to Africa surged by 31% in the first quarter
With the continuous deepening of China Africa economic and trade cooperation, the trade between Fujian and Africa is accelerating, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of foreign trade. According to Xiamen Customs statistics, from January to March, Fujian's imports and exports, exports, and imports to Africa all reached a historic high for the same period, with a total trade value of 28.65 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 31%; Among them, exports amounted to 16.28 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 42%; Imports amounted to 12.37 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.9%.
In terms of trade scale, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria are the top three countries in Fujian's trade with Africa. According to Xiamen Customs statistics, from January to March, Fujian's imports and exports to the above-mentioned countries amounted to 5.14 billion yuan, 4.02 billion yuan, and 2.57 billion yuan, respectively, an increase of 39.9%, 27%, and 30.6% year-on-year, accounting for over 40% of the province's total imports and exports to Africa during the same period. During the same period, Liberia's trade potential was fully unleashed, with Fujian's imports and exports to it reaching 1.79 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.3 times, accounting for 6.3%.
According to officials from Xiamen Customs, from January to March, private enterprises in Fujian Province imported and exported 18.98 billion yuan to Africa, a year-on-year increase of 29.9%, accounting for over 60% of the province's total import and export value to Africa during the same period. During the same period, Fujian's state-owned enterprises were full of vitality, with imports and exports to Africa reaching 8.19 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 52.7%, accounting for 28.6%; Fujian foreign-invested enterprises imported and exported 1.48 billion yuan to Africa, accounting for 5.2%.
From the perspective of exports, the export momentum of mechanical and electrical products is good. From January to March, Fujian exported 7.64 billion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products to Africa, a year-on-year increase of 90.2%, accounting for 46.9% of the province's total export value to Africa during the same period, driving the province's export growth to Africa by 31.6 percentage points; Among them, ships and cars became hot selling products, with exports of 1.47 billion yuan and 1.19 billion yuan respectively, a year-on-year increase of 5.9 times and 1.6 times respectively. During the same period, Fujian exported labor-intensive products to Africa worth 2.63 billion yuan, accounting for 16.1%. In addition, from January to March, Fujian exported 1.85 billion yuan of aquatic and other agricultural products to Africa, a year-on-year increase of 18.8%.
The imported goods are mainly metal ore, which is the "main engine" driving the growth of Fujian's imports from Africa. Customs data shows that from January to March, Fujian imported 8.14 billion yuan of metal ore from Africa, a year-on-year increase of 38.7%, accounting for 65.8% of the province's total import value from Africa during the same period, driving Fujian's import growth from Africa by 21.8 percentage points.
