Fujian's trade with southern countries welcomes a 'good start' - imports and exports exceed 130 billion yuan in the first two months

In recent years, the global South, which covers a large number of developing countries, has become an important growth pole for Fujian's foreign trade development. As the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Fujian continues to deepen its economic and trade connections with countries in the global South, injecting solid Fujian commercial strength into South South cooperation.

According to Xiamen Customs statistics, in the first two months of this year, the total import and export value of Fujian to southern countries worldwide reached 131.78 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%. Among them, exports amounted to 70.38 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.5%; Imports amounted to 61.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%.

From the perspective of enterprise entities, private enterprises have become the "main force" driving the growth of trade between Fujian and the global South. In the first two months, private enterprises imported and exported 84.55 billion yuan to countries in the global South, a year-on-year increase of 23.6%, accounting for 64.2% of the province's total import and export value to countries in the global South during the same period. The import and export of foreign-invested enterprises reached 20.55 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%, accounting for 15.6%.

From the perspective of specific trading partners, Indonesia, Brazil, and Vietnam, as Fujian's core trading partners in the global South, imported and exported 20.32 billion yuan, 12.3 billion yuan, and 11.56 billion yuan respectively in the first two months, an increase of 3.8%, 55.7%, and 14.9% year-on-year. In addition, emerging trading partners such as Liberia, Qatar, and Panama have achieved leapfrog growth, with import and export values increasing by 27.4 times, 3.0 times, and 1.8 times respectively year-on-year, becoming new highlights in trade.

In terms of imports, metal ore and mineral sand imports amounted to 16.47 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%, accounting for 26.8% of the total import value of the province to countries in the global South during the same period. Agricultural products and mechanical and electrical products imported amounted to 8.94 billion yuan and 2.95 billion yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth of 61.2% and 31.8%, respectively; Among them, imports of coffee, machine tools, beauty cosmetics, and toiletries increased by 6.3 times, 3.8 times, and 1.7 times respectively.

In terms of exports, the export of electromechanical products reached 29.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.3%, accounting for 41.5% of the total export value of the province to countries in the global South during the same period. The export of labor-intensive products reached 17.24 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%; Among them, textile and clothing exports amounted to 10.37 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%. In addition, exports of central processing units, plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles, and solar cells increased by 13.2 times, 5.3 times, and 2.6 times respectively year-on-year.
