Guangxi will build a distribution and trade center for traditional Chinese medicine facing ASEAN

Nanning, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The Health Commission, Traditional Chinese Medicine Bureau, and Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region recently released the "Three Year Action Plan for High Quality Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry in Guangxi (2026-2028)". According to the plan, in the next three years, Guangxi will expand the import varieties of Chinese medicinal materials at five import and export ports of Nanning, Dongxing, Pingxiang, Longbang, and Aidian, and create a Chinese medicinal material distribution and trade center facing ASEAN.

From 2026 to 2028, Guangxi will support the upgrading and transformation of the Yulin traditional Chinese medicine professional market, build a digital trade platform of "online trading+offline display+intelligent warehousing+cross-border settlement", establish an ASEAN foreign trade medicinal materials special zone, and attract ASEAN pharmaceutical companies to settle in. In terms of international exchange and cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine, Guangxi will deeply implement the "New Era Shennong Tasting Hundred Herbs" action and support the overseas demonstration and promotion of traditional Chinese medicine.

Guangxi will also strengthen cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine with Hong Kong and Macao, and promote the joint construction of traditional Chinese medicine laboratories, overseas diagnosis and treatment centers, training bases, etc. with ASEAN countries. Encourage enterprises to establish distribution centers and exhibition centers in ASEAN, build factories or establish breeding bases overseas, and promote the production and sales of traditional Chinese medicine in overseas markets.

In addition, Guangxi will promote the development of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) international standards for authentic medicinal materials such as "Gui Shi Wei" and advance the coordination of traditional Chinese medicine standards between China and ASEAN. Relying on platforms such as Fangchenggang International Medical Open Experimental Zone, promote exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries and member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the field of traditional medicine.
