Tianjin Port opens new direct route to South Africa
On April 18th, the "Mediterranean Migsan" container ship carrying industrial raw materials and semi-finished products slowly departed from the second container terminal of Tianjin Port under the supervision of Tianjin Customs. Subsequently, the cargo ship will pass through domestic ports such as Qingdao and Shanghai and sail towards ports in South Africa such as Kuha Port and Durban Port. The opening of this route has further strengthened the maritime transportation network at Tianjin Port, adding new channels for foreign trade import and export in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region.
The new route has deployed a total of 12 140000 ton ships, with one weekly departure to South Africa, achieving stable direct shipping between Tianjin Port, South Africa's Kuha Port, and Durban Port. The shortest voyage from Tianjin to South Africa's ports is only 40 days, significantly improving transportation efficiency and highlighting cargo adaptability and flexibility.
Yu Yue, the manager of the liner department of Tianjin Ocean Shipping Agency Co., Ltd., said, "Customs has helped us streamline the business processes of route registration, ship entry, and cargo clearance, allowing import and export enterprises to enjoy convenience and efficiency
To ensure the smooth maiden voyage of the new route, Tianjin Customs proactively contacted the port, shipping companies, and agency enterprises, and through the "customs, port, goods, and enterprise" coordination mechanism, proactively grasped the arrival time of ships and ship operation plans. Release the benefits of a package of policies such as early declaration, direct pickup at the ship's side, and fast customs clearance upon arrival, reduce the operating time of ships in port, and establish an information exchange platform with other port units to share ship and cargo information. Develop an "integrated, standardized, refined, and intelligent" customs clearance plan to improve joint inspection efficiency and clearance speed.
While providing policy consultation on customs clearance, logistics, and other aspects for enterprises, we also continuously optimize the ship supervision mode, realizing paperless handling of the entire process of ship declaration, manifest verification, and approval of materials for supply and return of ships. At the same time, we combine smart supervision models such as' smart telecommunications quarantine 'to shorten customs clearance time, help ports continuously expand their route layout, and improve the global logistics network. "Pan Li, head of the Operation Monitoring Department of Nanjiang Customs under Tianjin Customs, introduced.
In the first quarter of this year, the import and export value of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region to Africa was 95.95 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.8%. (Tianjin Customs/Document)
