Laizhou Customs seized 5200 cigarettes illegally brought into the country by crew members

Recently, Laizhou Customs, a subsidiary of Qingdao Customs, discovered that a crew member of an international shipping vessel brought cigarettes into the country without declaring their entry and disembarkation items to the customs. A total of 26 cigarettes and 5200 cigarettes were seized.

Tobacco products are restricted by the state from entering the country. Inbound passengers are allowed to carry 400 cigarettes (including heated cigarettes), 20 cigars, or 500 grams of tobacco without tax, provided that the total value of their luggage does not exceed the tax-free amount; Among them, passengers entering from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region are exempt from carrying 200 cigarettes (including heated cigarettes), 10 cigars, or 250 grams of tobacco. According to the "Management Measures for Import and Export Transportation Vehicles of the People's Republic of China Customs" and relevant regulations, the luggage and items carried by crew members and other personnel of import and export transportation vehicles shall be managed in accordance with the relevant regulations for inbound and outbound passengers.
