Yuexi's traditional Chinese medicine exports to the sea for 'gold mining'

Recently, the traditional Chinese medicine processing workshop of Anhui Xinong Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xinong Pharmaceutical") has been particularly busy. Poria cocos, Rehmannia root, Angelica sinensis... batches of medicinal herbs are neatly arranged, and workers are working hard to package and seal them, preparing to send them to countries such as South Korea and Indonesia.

The sustained popularity of traditional Chinese medicine in Yuexi overseas cannot be achieved without the support of ecological cultivation. In the past, the traditional planting method of Poria cocos relied on cutting down pine trees, which damaged the local ecology and increasingly limited its development space. With the growth of orders, the requirements for ecological protection have also increased, and the old path of "cutting down trees for materials" is becoming narrower and narrower. To protect the ecological environment of the Dabie Mountains, Anqing Customs, a subsidiary of Hefei Customs, has assisted enterprises in partnering with the Institute of Specialty Products of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to research and improve the cultivation method of Poria cocos.

The previous way of planting Poria cocos was destructive to the ecological environment of the Dabie Mountains. Now, the company has introduced a new process of using Poria cocos planting substrate as a substitute material. The pine branches and leaves, as well as dead pine wood, are crushed into sawdust and pressed into rectangular wooden columns, which can replace the complete pine trunk. This not only saves production costs but also protects the ecological environment, achieving sustainable development of the Poria cocos planting industry, "said Hu Xiaoyan, General Manager of Xinong Pharmaceutical.

In Dongchong Village, Shiguan Township, Yuexi County, Anqing Customs actively acts as a bridge and continues to extend the service chain, promoting the implementation of the "company+base+farmers" model. Currently, the village has supplied 100000 kilograms of Poria cocos to Xinong Pharmaceutical Industry, and the cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine has become a "rich industry" that drives people to become prosperous. In the export process, Anqing Customs guides enterprises to make good use of the rules of origin, enjoy policy dividends, help enterprises effectively reduce export costs, and expand overseas markets. Recently, enterprises exporting Poria cocos to South Korea have successfully applied for the Certificate of Origin under the China Korea Free Trade Agreement, while products such as chrysanthemums and Rehmannia glutinosa have been exported to Indonesia with the Certificate of Origin under the China ASEAN Free Trade Agreement.

According to statistics, in the first two months of this year, the export value of pharmaceutical materials and drugs in Anqing City reached 26.3 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.5%.

Next, Anqing Customs will continue to strengthen assistance, enhance policy support and export standard interpretation, and help more high-quality Chinese medicinal materials to step out of the mountains, becoming a "way to get rich" for comprehensive rural revitalization and a "new business card" for foreign trade.
