Recently, under customs supervision, the methanol refueling ship "Jianhang Lida" successfully implemented green methanol "ship to ship" refueling services for two international vessels. This is the first batch of "ship to ship" green methanol refueling services in Shandong ports, marking Qingdao Port as the first port in northern China to achieve normalized and full chain green methanol refueling services for ships.

The green methanol added this time produces no sulfides during the combustion process and is recognized by the international shipping industry as a low-carbon and clean alternative fuel for ships. This refueling adopts the 'ship to ship' refueling method, which is also the first time to carry out green methanol refueling operations in the 'one ship, multiple supplies' mode, "said Zhang Yijie, the head of energy business at Ark Intelligent Port and Shipping Port Services (Qingdao) Co., Ltd.

The "ship to ship" green methanol refueling business relies on dedicated methanol refueling ships, breaking the fixed berth restrictions, and has the characteristics of fast refueling speed and large single refueling volume, which can accurately adapt to the supply needs of large ships.

To ensure the smooth implementation of refueling services, Huangdao Customs under Qingdao Customs has tailored regulatory service plans for ports and supply enterprises in terms of customs declaration, ship supply declaration, and fuel supply.

We use the integrated mode of 'remote supervision+on-site supervision' to real-time grasp the operation dynamics, provide emergency support throughout the process, and ensure the safe, efficient, and smooth refueling operation, "said Luo Fumao, Deputy Director of the Qingdao Customs Port Supervision Department.

Qingdao Customs will continue to support the orderly development of international shipping bonded liquefied natural gas, biodiesel and other "green" fuel supply businesses for ships, and assist the port in its green and low-carbon transformation and high-quality development.
