Pazhou Port Departure Tax Refund Point Officially Opened

On March 1st, the departure tax refund point at Pazhou Hong Kong Macau Passenger Transport Port was officially put into use, marking the further improvement of the cross-border travel service function at Pazhou Port. Overseas passengers can enjoy a "one-stop" departure tax refund verification service from Pazhou Port, effectively improving the convenience of cross-border travel and shopping consumption.

It is reported that Pazhou Port relies on an information system to optimize the processing flow and achieve seamless integration of "customs inspection - tax refund - boarding". Passengers who need to handle the departure tax refund business, after completing the customs inspection procedures for the departure tax refund items during the exit clearance process, register for tax refund at the departure tax refund point at the port. With only these two steps, the passenger has completed the entire process of departure tax refund and then directly boarded the ship to leave the country.

To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the departure tax refund points, the customs strengthens cross departmental coordination and cooperation, collaborates with tax and tax refund agencies and port operation units to achieve real-time cross departmental circulation of tax refund information. At the same time, on-site translation machines are purchased, and foreign language staff are arranged to provide convenient services such as on-site guidance and process explanation. Chen Shaotao, Deputy Customs Director of Guangzhou Convention and Exhibition Center under Guangzhou Customs, introduced that since the trial operation of the departure tax refund point at Pazhou Port on February 15th, as of March 1st, the Guangzhou Convention and Exhibition Center Customs has cumulatively released about 43000 yuan worth of overseas passenger departure tax refund application forms, mainly involving specialty cultural and creative products, luggage and clothing.

Next, Guangzhou Convention and Exhibition Center Customs will focus on the needs of overseas tourists, dynamically optimize the tax refund service process, and use high-quality customs supervision services to help Guangzhou create a more internationally attractive and competitive consumption environment.
