On February 9th at 21:00, the EK304 flight carrying 1620 kilograms of South African plums successfully arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Inside the neatly arranged packaging box, round and plump plums emit an enticing deep purple luster. This is the first batch of African produced plums imported through general trade at Shanghai Port, which entered the Chinese consumer market after being supervised by Shanghai Pudong International Airport Customs under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Customs.

With the promotion of high-quality development of the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", China Africa economic and trade cooperation continues to deepen. More and more African fresh fruits enter the Chinese market, giving Chinese consumers more choices. At present, 24 kinds of fruits from 9 countries in Africa have obtained China's quarantine access. Recently, the General Administration of Customs officially issued a notice on the quarantine requirements for imported fresh fruit fruits from South Africa. High quality fresh fruit fruits such as peaches, peaches, plums, apricots, and plums from the "Rainbow Country" have obtained a "pass" to enter the Chinese market. Shanghai Customs continues to safeguard national security, promote trade facilitation, and safeguard the diversified needs of domestic consumers.

Allow the import of South African stone fruits, based on a rigorous and scientific plant quarantine system. Shanghai Customs implements strict certificate verification and inspection and quarantine at the entry port according to requirements, ensuring that every batch of imported stone fruits is safe and harmless. For fresh agricultural products that emphasize timeliness, the speed of customs clearance directly affects the quality and value of the goods. Shanghai Customs continues to optimize the business environment, further promoting the iterative upgrading of regulatory measures towards digitization and intelligence, and making it more convenient for imported fruits to clear customs. According to Xie Min, Deputy Director of Inspection Department 7 at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport Customs Control Inspection Office, for fresh fruit products, the customs has opened a green channel and relied on an intelligent inspection system to achieve paperless and rapid verification of certificates and accompanying documents, greatly improving customs clearance efficiency and ensuring the safety and timely entry of fresh goods into the consumer market.

In recent years, Shanghai Customs has continued to implement open access, actively serving the upgrading needs of domestic consumption, focusing on stabilizing policies and improving efficiency, and promoting Shanghai to become the "first" entry port for new access fruits: from Uganda's dried chili peppers to the first import in the country, to Ethiopia and Kenya's coffee beans fragrance in China, and now South African fruit fruits are ready to take off, China Africa trade shows strong growth momentum and huge development potential. According to Shanghai Customs statistics, the import of African agricultural products through Shanghai Port will reach 10.03 billion yuan in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 25.3%.
