Fujian ships sail more vigorously - during the 14th Five Year Plan period, the export scale of Fujian ships exceeded 50 billion yuan
As a major maritime province and the core area of the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road", Fujian is seizing the new trend of global shipping industry structural adjustment and green intelligent upgrading, deeply integrating into the international shipping industry chain and supply chain, promoting the acceleration of "Fujian made good ships" and becoming an important growth pole for foreign trade exports. According to Xiamen Customs statistics, during the 14th Five Year Plan period, Fujian exported 51.11 billion yuan worth of ships, an increase of 1.1 times compared to the 13th Five Year Plan period, with an average annual growth rate of 44%. Among them, the export growth rate has maintained double-digit growth for three consecutive years from 2023 to 2025.
Data shows that bulk carriers are the main types of ships exported by Fujian. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, Fujian exported bulk cargo ships worth 19.19 billion yuan, an increase of 2.4 times, accounting for nearly 40% of the province's total ship export value during the same period. During the same period, container ships became the best-selling type of ship exports in Fujian, with a total export value of 6.91 billion yuan, a significant increase of 10 times, accounting for 13.5%. In addition, during the 14th Five Year Plan period, Fujian exported 8.3 billion yuan worth of liquid cargo ships, an increase of 96.2%, accounting for 16.2%.
According to officials from Xiamen Customs, during the 14th Five Year Plan period, other Asian countries and regions will be the largest markets for Fujian's exported ships. Among them, Fujian's exports to Thailand, India, and Vietnam are selling well, with export values reaching 1.32 billion yuan, 300 million yuan, and 18.68 million yuan, an increase of 9.9 times, 6.8 times, and 7.6 times respectively. During the same period, Africa, as the second largest market for Fujian's exported ships, saw Fujian export ships worth 13.19 billion yuan, an increase of 7.3 times, accounting for 25.8% of the province's total ship export value during the same period; Among them, exports to Liberia amounted to 12.47 billion yuan, a surge of 39.3 times, driving a 50.3 percentage point increase in the province's ship exports and becoming the "main engine" of Fujian's ship exports. In addition, as an emerging market, Latin America has performed well. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, Fujian's export value to it reached 7.02 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2 times, accounting for 13.7%.
State owned enterprises are the absolute mainstay of Fujian's ship exports, demonstrating strong vitality. According to statistics, during the 14th Five Year Plan period, state-owned enterprises in Fujian exported ships worth 43.45 billion yuan, an increase of 1.3 times, accounting for over 80% of the province's total ship export value during the same period. During the same period, private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises continued to make efforts, exporting ships worth 7.1 billion yuan and 560 million yuan respectively, with growth rates of 38.8% and 7.7%, respectively.
In order to assist the shipbuilding industry in seizing the export window period, Xiamen Customs has tailored regulatory service plans based on the characteristics of long shipbuilding cycles and diverse types of required materials. It has implemented measures such as "advance declaration+appointment clearance" for export ships, and provided "one enterprise, one policy" point-to-point assistance to key enterprises, effectively improving customs clearance efficiency and providing escort for "Fujian made ships" to set sail.
