During the Spring Festival, the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge (hereinafter referred to as the Bridge Port) experienced a peak in traffic flow. According to customs statistics, 8 days before the Spring Festival (February 15th to February 22nd), Gongbei Customs released a total of 175000 inbound and outbound passenger vehicles through the Daqiao Port, an increase of 11.2% compared to last year's Spring Festival. Among them, the cumulative number of Hong Kong and Macao single license plate vehicles with "two vehicles heading north" reached 135000, an increase of 16.3% compared to last year's Spring Festival. On February 22nd, the customs released 26900 inbound and outbound passenger vehicles and 18700 outbound passenger vehicles through the Daqiao Port, both setting a new historical high.

The main reason for the surge in traffic this time is the high demand for self driving home visits, tourism, and consumption from Hong Kong and Macao residents during the Spring Festival period, coupled with the implementation of the "Guangdong car southbound" policy and the popularity of outbound travel by mainland tourists. The trend of "two-way travel" in the Greater Bay Area is evident.

To cope with the surge in traffic during peak hours, the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge Customs under Gongbei Customs has made advance arrangements, dynamically adjusted personnel deployment, comprehensively utilized technological means, increased real-time video monitoring efforts, and made every effort to ensure efficient inspection and release of small passenger cars during peak periods. At present, the customs does not allow vehicles that do not require inspection to be released for more than 10 seconds. We actively use a small passenger car top mounted intelligent inspection system to 'release' vehicles without any abnormalities during machine inspection, effectively shortening the vehicle inspection time, "said Feng Wenjun, head of the Customs Supervision Department of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge. In addition, the customs has strengthened coordination and linkage with local departments, port units, and relevant parties in Hong Kong and Macao, and carried out "peak warning+staggered guidance", and timely opened emergency channels for outbound "goods and passengers" to enhance the guarantee capability of customs clearance services.

Faced with the continuous peak of inbound and outbound passengers and traffic during the Spring Festival, the customs reminds drivers and passengers to pay attention to real-time traffic information, arrange their travel reasonably, comply with relevant regulations, actively cooperate in completing necessary inspections, and jointly create a safe and harmonious port clearance environment.
