Beijing, February 25 (Xinhua) -- Over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Germany have continuously deepened their economic and trade cooperation. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs on the 25th, the import and export of goods between China and Germany will reach 1.51 trillion yuan in 2025, an increase of 5.2% compared to 2024 and 1.4 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of China's foreign trade in 2025. Among them, exports to Germany will reach 846.3 billion yuan and imports from Germany will reach 664.3 billion yuan. Germany continues to maintain its position as China's largest trading partner in Europe, while China returns to Germany's largest trading partner after a year.
From the perspective of specific products, electromechanical products have become the main driving force for the stable growth of bilateral imports and exports. In 2025, the import and export of mechanical and electrical products between China and Germany will reach 1.07 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, accounting for over 70% of the total trade volume between China and Germany. Among them, the import and export of automobiles and their spare parts amounted to 131.5 billion yuan, accounting for 12.3% of the trade scale of Sino German electromechanical products. During the same period, the import and export of pharmaceutical materials, pharmaceuticals, and basic organic chemicals between China and Germany amounted to 65.7 billion yuan and 18.4 billion yuan respectively, while the import and export of emerging products such as 3D printers and industrial robots amounted to 2.6 billion yuan and 1 billion yuan respectively.
As the world's second and third largest economies, China and Germany are comprehensive strategic partners for win-win cooperation, with close high-level exchanges between the two countries. On the morning of the 25th, German Chancellor Merkel arrived in Beijing and began a two-day official visit to China. Accompanying Mertz's visit to China this time is a high-level economic and trade delegation, including about 30 top executives from German advantageous fields such as automobiles, chemicals, biopharmaceuticals, machinery manufacturing, and circular economy, fully reflecting Germany's strong willingness to deepen bilateral economic and trade relations.
