During the Spring Festival, the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge (hereinafter referred to as the Bridge Port) experienced a peak in traffic flow. According to customs statistics, from February 15th to 23rd, Gongbei Customs released a total of 199000 inbound and outbound passenger cars through the Daqiao Port, a year-on-year increase of 38.2%; The cumulative number of single license plate vehicles from Hong Kong and Macau under the "two cars heading north" policy reached 152000, a year-on-year increase of 63.4%. Among them, on February 22, there were 26900 inbound and outbound passenger cars, and 18700 outbound passenger cars, both reaching a historical high.

The main reason for the surge in traffic this time is the high demand for self driving home visits, tourism, and consumption from Hong Kong and Macao residents during the Spring Festival period, coupled with the implementation of the "Guangdong car southbound" policy and the popularity of outbound travel by mainland tourists. The trend of "two-way travel" in the Greater Bay Area is evident.

To cope with the surge in traffic during peak hours, the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge Customs under Gongbei Customs has made advance arrangements, dynamically adjusted personnel deployment, comprehensively utilized technological means, increased real-time video monitoring efforts, and made every effort to ensure efficient inspection and release of small passenger cars during peak periods. At present, the customs does not allow vehicles that do not require inspection to be released for more than 10 seconds. We actively use a small passenger car top mounted intelligent inspection system to 'release' vehicles without any abnormalities during machine inspection, effectively shortening the vehicle inspection time, "said Feng Wenjun, head of the Customs Supervision Department of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge. In addition, the customs has strengthened coordination and linkage with local departments, port units, and relevant parties in Hong Kong and Macao, and carried out "peak warning+off peak guidance", and timely opened emergency channels for outbound "goods and passengers" to enhance customs clearance service guarantee capabilities.
