Q: On July 31st Eastern Time, the US Department of Homeland Security announced the addition of over 40 Chinese entities to the Entity List under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. What is China's comment on this?

Answer: We have noticed the relevant situation. The actions taken by the United States have no factual basis and continue to impose unilateral sanctions on Chinese companies under the pretext of so-called "human rights" and "forced labor" in accordance with domestic laws, which is a typical act of economic coercion. The US measures seriously harm the legitimate rights and interests of relevant enterprises and seriously undermine the stability of the global industrial and supply chains.

It should be emphasized that on July 30th, the leaders of China US economic and trade held a video call, during which both sides had frank, in-depth, and constructive exchanges on maintaining stable economic and trade relations. Just one day later, the United States has implemented malicious measures that harm China's interests, seriously deviating from the consensus reached by the two heads of state. China strongly condemns and firmly opposes this.

China has always opposed forced labor. At present, Xinjiang's society is harmonious and stable, the economy is prosperous and developing, and the people live and work in peace and contentment. There is no such thing as any form of so-called "forced labor". The Chinese side urges the US to immediately stop attacking and smearing Xinjiang, stop manipulating the so-called "forced labor" issue, and stop unreasonably suppressing Chinese enterprises. China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
