Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Welcome Enterprises from Various Countries to Seize the 'China Opportunity 2.0'

Beijing, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated during a regular press conference on July 1 that China will steadfastly promote high-level opening up to the outside world, adhere to sharing technological innovation achievements with other countries, welcome enterprises from all countries to seize the "China Opportunity 2.0" and achieve upward breakthroughs, and enhance resilience in open cooperation.

A reporter asked: Recently, the Swiss International Institute for Management Development released the 2026 Global Competitiveness Report, with China ranking twelfth and Hong Kong, China ranking second. Business people describe China as the "toughest gym in the world" and believe that China's unique advantages in scale and rapid innovation will become an important support for "China Opportunity 2.0". What does the spokesperson think about this?

Guo Jiakun said that China's competitiveness has continued to rise from the "world factory" to the "world market" and then to the "innovation highland". This is due to a stable policy environment and also relies on the surging momentum brought by technological innovation. While China provides greater "market dividends" to the world, it also contributes an increasing "innovation dividend".

We have seen more and more foreign companies coming to China, setting up research and development centers, regional headquarters, deeply integrating into China's innovation and industrial chains, and shifting from 'producing in China' to 'creating in China'. Guo Jiakun said that by 2025, there will be 14000 new foreign-funded enterprises established in the fields of scientific research and technology services, a year-on-year increase of 27.2%. In China, companies from various countries can quickly find full process partners, making innovation more efficient and easier, not only achieving success in the Chinese market, but also enhancing competitiveness in the global market.

Guo Jiakun stated that looking at the world economy, innovation is an important way to counter downward pressure and enhance growth momentum. China will steadfastly promote high-level opening up to the outside world, adhere to sharing technological innovation achievements with other countries, welcome enterprises from all countries to seize the "China Opportunity 2.0" and achieve upward breakthroughs, enhance resilience in open cooperation, and win the future through common development.
