The 'Digital Journey' of Taishan Eels Overseas

Taishan in Jiangmen, Guangdong is the largest eel farming and production base in China, as well as the largest eel export base. According to statistics, there are currently 4 eel processing and production enterprises, 7 registered transit farms, and 34 registered eel farms for export in Taishan City, with the overall number steadily increasing year by year.

In recent years, the entry threshold for exporting live eels has been further raised. To help enterprises cope with challenges, Taishan Customs, a subsidiary of Jiangmen Customs, actively guides export eel registration and breeding enterprises to improve breeding nodes and scientifically develop self inspection and self-control plans in conjunction with the trade country notification project. It continuously optimizes the "collection analysis response" work mode of technical and trade measures to ensure the quality and safety of exported eels from the source.

Customs has guided us to align our testing projects and standards with major export markets, scientifically control the breeding process, and now the number of registered farms has increased to six. Every year, more than 2500 tons of live eels are exported after inspection and quarantine, and for the first time, we have achieved exports to countries and regions such as Vietnam, making new breakthroughs in exploring overseas markets, "said Yao Ping, the head of Shengye Eel Farm.

In order to ensure that live eels can safely and quickly reach overseas markets, the customs has launched the "Outbound Aquatic Animal Traceability Management Application", which uses intelligent means such as "camera+5G" to build a panoramic video monitoring system for registered farms, transfer stations during registration, and water truck pilot projects, achieving full traceability and investigation of outbound aquatic animals and improving the efficiency of full chain supervision; At the same time, convenient measures such as priority inspection and "5+2" appointment inspection will be added to further improve the clearance speed of exported live eels.

According to statistics, from January to November this year, Jiangmen Customs supervised the export of 7670 tons of Taishan live eel.
