China Guomen Times: The first batch of Xiangshan "Red Beauty" citrus fruits of the new season are sold fresh in Singapore

Recently, in the orchard of Xiaotang Township, Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, mature "Red Beauty" citrus fruits are filling the branches. Employees of Xiangshan Xinguo Agriculture Co., Ltd. are sorting and packing the newly picked "Red Beauty" fruits. A batch of 500 boxes totaling 1260 kilograms of newly produced "Red Beauty" citrus fruits are about to be sent to Singapore.
Xiangshan County, known as the "hometown of Chinese red beauties", has superior natural conditions and has cultivated "red beauties" citrus fruits with delicate flesh, juicy and sweet taste, which are deeply loved by consumers. Going abroad and expanding into broader overseas markets have become the common aspiration of local fruit farmers. However, fresh fruits have a short shelf life and high quality requirements. In addition, the international market has strict requirements for export qualifications, quarantine standards, etc. For orchards and enterprises lacking foreign trade experience, they face significant challenges in smoothly opening up channels to the sea.
To solve this problem, Xiangshan Customs under Ningbo Customs and Xiangshan County Government have jointly launched the country's first "Red Beauty" citrus export "big orchard" management model, which focuses on "integration" and "simplification". Xiangshan Customs, together with Xiangshan County Agriculture and Rural Bureau and Commerce Bureau, has established a special working group to virtually integrate eligible and scattered orchards within the county into a unified "big orchard". Through the application of a new mechanism of "unified application, centralized assessment, and joint supervision", the traditional mode of each orchard having to undergo separate assessment and registration has been changed, significantly reducing the export entry threshold and comprehensive cost of individual orchards. As of the end of November, the total area of exported orchards registered with customs in Xiangshan County has expanded to 1200 acres, a three fold increase compared to the same period last year, laying a solid foundation for large-scale exports.
In addition, to ensure the smooth export of "Red Beauty" citrus, Xiangshan Customs provides full chain guidance from the planting source to help enterprises improve their quality management system. In the customs clearance process, a "green channel" for agricultural product exports will be opened, implementing the "four priorities" of document review, quarantine, inspection, and release to ensure that fresh fruits can be quickly inspected and released.
Under the full guidance of the customs, our export process has become much smoother. The smooth export of the first batch of citrus fruits in the new season is a great encouragement for us to explore the international market. We still have three or four containers of goods to export in the future, "said Yang Haibo, the person in charge of Xiangshan Xinguo Agriculture Co., Ltd.
Since its export in 2021, Xiangshan's "Red Beauty" citrus has steadily expanded its overseas market, covering multiple countries and regions such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. With the continuous release of the effectiveness of the "Big Orchard" management model, it is expected that the export orders for this season will see a significant increase.
