Fuzhou adds a new "Air Silk Road" Southeast Asian passenger route

On the evening of January 24th, 67 passengers from Dili, East Timor successfully cleared customs at Fuzhou Changle International Airport under the supervision of Fuzhou Customs. This is another direct route to countries along the "the Belt and Road" opened by Fuzhou Changle Airport, increasing the number of countries along the "the Belt and Road" in Southeast Asia to 9.

In recent years, the air passage between Fuzhou Changle International Airport and countries along the "the Belt and Road" in Southeast Asia has become increasingly complete. In 2025 alone, Changle Airport will open 9 more passenger and freight routes to Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia and Vietnam, with over 4000 round-trip flights to and from Southeast Asia and more than 630000 service personnel, an increase of 38.39% and 21.38% respectively, promoting increasingly close personnel and trade exchanges between China's southeast coast and Southeast Asia.

As the youngest country in Asia, Timor Leste has maintained close exchanges with China in areas such as economy, trade, infrastructure, healthcare, and agriculture since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2002. With the opening of the "Fuzhou Dili" air route, the travel time between the two places will be reduced from over 24 hours through third-party transfers to 6 hours required for flight. According to the reporter's understanding, the "Fuzhou Dili" route operates once every two weeks, with flights from Fuzhou to Dili departing at night and arriving at the destination the next morning. The "evening departure and morning arrival" schedule is designed to further reduce the impact of travel time on the overall itinerary of passengers.

To ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance for the first flight, the customs at Fuzhou Changle Airport actively made preparations before departure, analyzed the local epidemic and disease risk trends in East Timor in advance, fully utilized the intelligent health inspection channel and early inspection equipment supervision role, and achieved "seamless customs clearance and intelligent supervision". We have also prepared multilingual customs policy consultation services to answer questions and clarify doubts for passengers in need, "said He Majun, the head of the Customs Travel Inspection Department at Fuzhou Changle Airport.

At present, Fuzhou Changle International Airport has opened 18 inbound and outbound passenger and cargo routes to countries along the "the Belt and Road" in Southeast Asia. It flies about 150 related flights every week, serving tens of thousands of passengers and more than 100 tons of cargo. We will actively optimize regulatory and service measures based on the characteristics of different flights, and provide continuous support for the opening of Fuzhou's air gateway to the outside world, "said He Mojun.
