The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce answers questions from reporters on the economic and trade cooperation between China and Finland

A reporter asked: Finnish Prime Minister Aalborg will pay an official visit to China from January 25th to 28th. May I ask what activities and achievements both sides will have in the economic and trade field at that time? How to evaluate the current development status and future cooperation prospects of Sino Finnish economic and trade relations?

Answer: Finland is an important economic and trade partner of China in Europe, and also the first European country to sign an intergovernmental trade agreement with China. For a long time, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the foundation of China Finland economic and trade cooperation has been continuously consolidated, and the areas of cooperation have continued to expand. By 2025, the bilateral trade volume between China and Finland will exceed 8 billion US dollars, and the bilateral investment stock will exceed 23 billion US dollars. The enthusiasm of enterprises from both countries to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation continues to rise.

It is reported that Finnish Prime Minister Orbo will lead more than 20 corporate executives to follow up this time, covering Finland's advantageous fields such as machinery, forestry, innovation, clean energy, and food, fully reflecting Finland's strong willingness to deepen bilateral economic and trade relations. The Chinese side attaches great importance to economic and trade cooperation with Finland, and is actively preparing for the sixth meeting of the China Finland Innovation Enterprise Cooperation Committee with Finland, providing a good opportunity for both sides' enterprises to engage in dialogue and exchange, and seek cooperation and development. Chinese and Finnish enterprises are very active and enthusiastic, and currently about 50 representatives of enterprises have registered to attend the conference.

During the visit, the Ministry of Commerce will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Finnish side on strengthening the work of the Sino Finnish Innovation Enterprise Cooperation Committee, and both companies will also sign multiple commercial cooperation agreements. All of these fully demonstrate that both China and Finland have the willingness, confidence, and ability to promote the sustained and positive development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Looking to the future, China and Finland complement each other's advantages in areas such as green and innovation, and there is enormous potential for cooperation. Welcome enterprises from both sides to seize the new opportunities brought by China's unwavering promotion of high-level opening-up, and further deepen cooperation in areas such as green transformation, information technology, and digital economy. The Ministry of Commerce is willing to work with relevant departments in Finland to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen communication on economic and trade policies, provide service guarantees for enterprises of both sides, and promote the deepening and implementation of China Finland economic and trade cooperation.
