On January 19th, the Irkeshtam Port in Xinjiang experienced heavy snowfall, with a snow thickness of 20 centimeters and temperatures dropping sharply to minus 25 degrees Celsius. Irkeshtam Customs officers overcame the heavy snowfall to manually inspect import and export vehicles to ensure smooth customs clearance.
The snow situation is an order, and emergency response is quickly in place. After receiving the blizzard warning, the Irkeshtam Customs immediately held an emergency deployment meeting to clarify the division of responsibilities, conduct a comprehensive investigation of the customs clearance inspection area, supervision equipment, and evacuation routes in advance, and conduct low-temperature protection testing on key equipment such as H986, CT machine, and intelligent drawing review system to ensure normal operation in severe cold environments; Deepen the joint logistics linkage with port traffic law enforcement, border inspection and other departments, guide transportation enterprises to plan customs clearance time reasonably, and use snow removal equipment to clean up the inspection site and passage snow, lay anti-skid mats, set up safety warning signs on key road sections, and create a safe and efficient environment for vehicle passage.
In order to reduce the impact of extreme snowfall weather on vehicle clearance, we have launched the emergency clearance plan for severe winter weather. Through the three-dimensional measures of 'safety prevention and control+efficient supervision+warm service', we ensure zero delay, zero detention, and zero accidents in port clearance, "said Zhang Fengyu, a first level administrative law enforcement officer of the inspection department of Irkeshtam Customs
In response to potential issues such as vehicle delays caused by snowfall, Irkeshtam Customs provides 24-hour supply of hot water, instant noodles, and other supplies at the inspection site, equipped with first aid kits, and provides temporary resting places for drivers and passengers. The customs officers also proactively provide drivers with real-time traffic information around the port, guiding vehicles to avoid snowy and icy roads, ensuring smooth customs clearance at the port.
So far, during the snowfall period, the Irkeshtan Customs has released about 1500 inbound and outbound vehicles. The Irkeshtan Customs will continue to pay close attention to weather changes, constantly improve the emergency response mechanism for severe winter weather, pay close attention to work safety, use accurate, efficient and warm supervision services to fully ensure the safety and smoothness of customs clearance, and contribute to the service of local economic and social development and the construction of the "the Belt and Road".
