The National Conference on Foreign Trade Work was held in Beijing
The 2026 National Foreign Trade Work Conference will be held in Beijing from February 2nd to 3rd. Assistant Minister of Commerce Zhang Li attended the meeting and gave a work report.
The meeting pointed out that 2025 will be an extraordinary year. Under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, business regulatory departments at all levels have risen to challenges and worked hard to effectively respond to external shocks and challenges, vigorously explore diversified markets, and promote the new and optimal development of foreign trade. China's foreign trade has shown strong resilience and vitality, with a record high import and export scale and continuous structural optimization, making important contributions to the development of the national economy. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, positive results were achieved in building a strong trading nation.
The meeting emphasized that 2026 is the beginning year of the 15th Five Year Plan, and doing a good job in foreign trade is of great significance. The situation faced by China's foreign trade development remains complex and severe, with strategic opportunities and risks coexisting, and an increasing number of uncertain and unpredictable factors. All levels of commerce supervisory departments should unify their thoughts and actions with the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee, based on the "three important" positioning of commerce work, adhere to the dual wheel drive of "policy+activity", focus on promoting the integration of trade and investment, and the integration of domestic and foreign trade, make every effort to stabilize foreign trade, develop new driving forces for foreign trade, promote balanced development of imports and exports, and make every effort to achieve a good start in the construction of a strong trading country during the 15th Five Year Plan period.
The commerce departments of various provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as representatives of relevant industry associations, attended the meeting, and relevant departments of the State Council attended as observers. Representatives from some local business regulatory departments exchanged speeches.
