Chilean cherries, North American mitten lobsters, Bangladeshi green crabs... These global delicacies that cross mountains and seas are "flying" to Ningbo, heading to supermarket shelves and dining tables across the Yangtze River Delta.
According to statistics from Ningbo Customs, in 2025, Ningbo Airport will import 2727.5 tons of fresh goods worth 340 million yuan, an increase of 60.3% and 42.1% respectively year-on-year, mainly from the United States, Canada, and Chile, accounting for 80.4% of the total imports during the same period. Imported fresh produce includes multiple categories such as high-end fruits, fresh seafood, and high-quality ingredients.
The freshness of fresh products is their value. In order to ensure fast customs clearance of imported fresh food, Ningbo Airport Customs has opened a "green channel" for fresh food imports and established a "Blue Sky Strike Team". Throughout the year, a total of 630 batches and 937 people of scheduled overtime were carried out to ensure that fresh goods arriving at the port late at night and on holidays do not delay or pressure the port, completely resolving the "time anxiety" of enterprises.
While actively providing services, Ningbo Airport Customs actively supports the airport in optimizing the layout of international air cargo routes. Currently, there are 7 international cargo routes in operation, providing stable support for fresh goods from Southeast Asia, South America and other regions to directly reach Ningbo, and building a diversified fresh food supply chain with "cross continental direct and regional coverage".
For example, the Ningbo Miami international freight route, which will be opened in 2025, will use Miami as a transit hub to connect Chile and the Yangtze River Delta in South America, becoming a golden channel for efficient direct delivery of South American fresh food to the Yangtze River Delta; Mature routes such as Ningbo Ho Chi Minh City and Ningbo Dhaka are simultaneously making efforts to help global fresh flavors continue to converge in Ningbo.
In the future, with the opening of more and more international air routes and the optimization and upgrading of customs services, Ningbo Airport Port will gather more global delicacies, making 'global direct flights and tasting in Yongcheng' the norm, injecting a continuous stream of power into regional economic development and consumption upgrading, "said the relevant person in charge of Ningbo Airport Customs.
