On the noon of January 1, 2026, the Nansha Automobile Port in Guangzhou was bustling with domestic cars rushing from the dock to the recently docked "Anji Jade" roll on/roll off ship. Soon, the "Anji Jade" roll on/roll off ship will carry more than 1630 domestically produced cars and set sail for the United Arab Emirates. This is the first batch of domestically produced cars to be exported through the Nansha Port in Guangzhou in 2026.
According to statistics from Nansha Customs, a subsidiary of Guangzhou Customs, in 2025, Nansha Customs supervised the export of 383000 roll on/roll off vehicles through Guangzhou Nansha Automobile Port, a year-on-year increase of 54.4%. Among them, 154000 new energy vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of more than twice, accounting for 40% of the total export volume.
During the New Year holiday, four car roll on/roll off ships docked at the port, and we will supervise the export of more than 7000 domestic cars. In response to the customs clearance needs of enterprises during holidays, we have learned about the export plans of enterprises in advance, provided 24-hour appointment clearance services, guided export enterprises to 'declare in advance', and implemented 'ship to person arrival, immediate inspection' for roll on/roll off ships docking at Nansha Automobile Port. Even during holidays, we will provide customs clearance guarantees at all times, "said Yin Haiyun, head of the Xiaohu Automobile Supervision Department of Nansha Customs.
Thanks to the abundant logistics resources in Nansha, Guangzhou, we can freely choose various logistics port consolidation methods based on actual needs, realizing the 'shipment from the factory' of automobiles and faster logistics speed. At the same time, relying on convenient policies such as automobile export supervision warehouses, we have achieved bonded storage for whole vehicle exports, which facilitates us to plan routes more reasonably, "said Zhou Junbin, customs clearance manager of Huayi Logistics Supply Chain (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., responsible for automobile export logistics business.
In recent years, domestically produced new energy vehicles have been increasingly favored by Hong Kong citizens, and the industry has put forward new expectations for deepening the integration mechanism of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area rules and promoting the export of domestically produced new energy vehicles. In response to industry demands, Guangzhou Customs continues to promote the construction of a smart customs and the "Smart Customs Strong Country" action. Under the guidance of the Guangdong Branch of the General Administration of Customs and the cooperation mechanism between Guangdong and Hong Kong Customs, Guangzhou Customs strengthens cooperation and cooperation with Hong Kong Customs, conducts in-depth research on relevant key enterprises, and continuously deepens the connection mechanism between Guangzhou and Hong Kong Customs in terms of regulatory focus, information systems, business models, and operational processes. Guangzhou Customs innovatively launches the "Guangzhou Hong Kong Automotive Export Express" cooperation model.
Under the "Guangzhou Hong Kong Automobile Export Express" cooperation model, cars exported from mainland China to Hong Kong will be temporarily stored in the customs export supervision warehouse after completing customs clearance procedures and inspections at Nansha Port. After the Hong Kong side completes the vehicle qualification approval and other related procedures, they will be transported out of the country. The waiting time for vehicles to be registered in Hong Kong will be reduced from the original 14 working days to within 3 working days after arrival. According to Nansha Customs statistics, since the official launch of the Guangzhou Hong Kong Automobile Export Express on June 30, 2025, a total of 1099 vehicles have been cleared and exported by the end of 2025.
