2026 "Buy in China" and the launch of the Chinese New Year consumption season

On January 3rd, the launch ceremony of the 2026 "Buy in China" and Chinese New Year consumption season was held in Shanghai. Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zheng attended and delivered speeches. Mayor Yao Gaoyuan of Hangzhou, Acting Mayor Xiong Zhengyu of Wuhan, and Deputy Mayor Luo Huanghao of Shenzhen attended and introduced local key activities and arrangements. Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of Commerce, and Hua Yuan, member of the Standing Committee and Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, attended the event.

The Ministry of Commerce conscientiously implements the decisions and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and deeply implements the special action to boost consumption. In 2026, it will continue to organize and carry out a series of activities "Buy in China", focusing on three themes of commodity consumption, service consumption, and consumption scenarios, and hold special activities nationwide, such as "TESCO Group New Year", boutique consumption month, and international consumption season. Support provinces to hold "local station" activities and organize 15 pilot cities for international consumption environment construction to hold "city specific" events. By creating a unified theme and distinctive activity matrix, we aim to create a strong consumer atmosphere and stimulate the vitality of the consumer market.

As a key part of "shopping in China" in 2026, the Ministry of Commerce will hold "TESCO Group New Year" Spring Festival special activities with relevant departments, organize all regions to launch a series of measures to benefit people and facilitate people around the whole chain of "food, accommodation, travel, shopping and entertainment", and create a new hot spot and new scene of Spring Festival consumption.
