China Guomen Times: Cicheng: A stick of rice cake has the taste of "old foundation"
Early winter is the traditional peak season for making rice cakes. At Cicheng Tapai Food Co., Ltd. in Ningbo, experienced craftsmen with decades of production experience skillfully handle the raw materials. After more than 10 processes including soaking, water grinding, pressing, crushing, and steaming, the hot rice cake is freshly "baked". On December 7th, about 2 tons of tower brand rice cakes were exported to Hong Kong, China after passing customs inspection. This is the first batch of rice cakes exported from Cicheng this year.
In the enterprise warehouse, a batch of rice cakes are naturally dried and air dried before being stored in buckets. The buckets are also soaked in water at a suitable temperature to preserve the characteristics of Cicheng rice cakes, which are non stick, tough and smooth, and non sticky when stir fried.
From the initial 3 tons per year to over 600 tons this year, export orders have continued to increase in recent years, mainly sent to the Hong Kong region. Our rice cakes are the taste that many Hong Kong people of Yong nationality miss the most. Xinggu Rice Professional Cooperative in Jiangbei District, Ningbo City produces 800 tons of rice annually and is a major grain grower in Ningbo City. The person in charge of the cooperative, Cao Jianjun, introduced, "We have been establishing a special rice planting base for Tapai rice cakes since 2007. Under the guidance of customs, we have continuously improved the planting management system, strengthened the prevention and control of pests and diseases, and successfully passed the registration of the export food raw material planting site. Now, every raw material used for Cicheng rice cakes comes from Cicheng locals
We have formed a team of plant quarantine experts to conduct regular supervision and inspection of rice planting bases every year. From the environmental conditions of the bases to the operation of quality management systems, we verify whether they continue to meet the requirements for filing export food raw material planting sites, "said the person in charge of the Yongjiang Customs Inspection Department under Ningbo Customs.
