Strong growth in ASEAN agricultural product imports, customs strengthens convenience and security defenses

In recent years, China's economic and trade relations with ASEAN have become increasingly close, and trade complementarity has been continuously strengthened. Since the beginning of this year, ASEAN has maintained its position as China's largest trading partner, and high-quality fruits, nuts, and other agricultural products from ASEAN countries have continuously enriched China's commodity market. According to statistics, in the first ten months of this year, Shandong imported agricultural products from ASEAN countries worth 11.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19%.

Recently, in the warehouse of Qingdao Wolong Food Co., Ltd., 43 tons of pistachios, cashews, and other fruits imported from Vietnam have passed the inspection and quarantine of Qingdao Dagang Customs under Qingdao Customs, and will soon be put into production. After undergoing various processing steps, they will be sold to domestic and foreign markets.

Our company mainly imports nuts such as pistachios, almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, etc. from ASEAN countries such as Vietnam. As the end of the year approaches, all production lines are operating at full capacity, "said Zhang Yanni, the company's Director of International Trade. According to statistics, the company imported various nut foods worth about 14.4 million US dollars from ASEAN in the first ten months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 30%.

In order to create a more intelligent and convenient customs clearance environment and help enterprises seize the golden period of the imported agricultural product market, Qingdao Dagang Customs actively understands the import plans and needs of enterprises through visits, phone calls, online and other forms, guides enterprises to adopt customs clearance modes such as "advance declaration" and "two-step declaration", assigns dedicated personnel to coordinate the arrival plan of goods, implements appointment inspection mode, ensures timely inspection and issuance of certificates, minimizes customs clearance time, and ensures that imported agricultural products enter the market in the first time to meet consumer needs.

Recently, all imported nuts that have arrived at the factory can be inspected on the same day, and the truck can unload and return on the same day, saving more than 1000 yuan in transportation costs per day, "said Zhang Yanni. After passing the inspection, they can be released within half an hour and obtain the" Entry Goods Inspection and Quarantine Certificate "to ensure a stable supply of raw nuts.

At the same time, in order to ensure the safety of imported agricultural products, Qingdao Dagang Customs has started to study relevant national standards one by one from high-risk points such as food labels, product quality, pesticide residues, microbial contamination, and heavy metal exceeding standards. They have identified accompanying overseas official certificates, verified product testing reports, and standardized supervision, sampling, and risk monitoring work.

Next, Qingdao Dagang Customs will seize the opportunity of upgrading the China ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0, focus on the core needs of trade between Shandong and ASEAN, and continue to create a "dual demonstration" window for import and export trade facilitation and safety supervision for ASEAN.
