In the first ten months, the trade volume of agricultural and food products between China and ASEAN exceeded 50 billion US dollars
At 3am, a batch of green pomelos imported from Thailand arrived at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. Relying on the exclusive "green channel" for fresh goods, Chongqing Jiangbei Airport Customs implements a 7 × 24-hour customs clearance guarantee to achieve efficient inspection and release of goods. On the same day, this batch of fruits arrived at Chongqing Shuangfu International Agricultural Trade City for distribution.
As a key "vegetable basket project" and "livelihood project" developed by Chongqing, Shuangfu International Agricultural Trade City has become an important hub for regional agricultural product circulation. Data shows that in the first ten months of this year, fruits from ASEAN countries accounted for about 80% of the total imported fruits in Shuangfu International Agricultural Trade City, with a transaction volume of 2.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of over 25%.
Chongqing Shanghao Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. is one of the main merchants in Shuangfu International Agricultural Trade City specializing in wholesale of imported fruits. Currently, the company has built its own processing plant and logistics company in Thailand to achieve direct procurement and standardized processing from the production area. The durian, mangosteen, coconut green and other fruits we import from ASEAN are very popular in the domestic market. Taking Thai durian as an example, in the first ten months of this year, the company's processing volume has reached 2000 cabinets, a year-on-year increase of 20%, which can fully meet domestic consumer demand
The faster and better delivery of high-quality agricultural and food products from ASEAN to the dining tables of Chinese people cannot be achieved without the important institutional guarantees provided by the China ASEAN Animal and Plant Quarantine and Food Safety (SPS) cooperation mechanism. This mechanism has created a convenient and safe trade environment for expanding the import of ASEAN agricultural and food products by carrying out multiple actions in the fields of food safety, animal and plant inspection and quarantine, and capacity building.
ASEAN cuisine comes in, 'Chinese flavor' goes out. In the production workshop of Chongqing Dejia Meat Technology Development Co., Ltd., boxes of canned pork are transported on a conveyor belt. After passing X-ray inspection, they are automatically packaged and stored for sale in Singapore.
To assist enterprises in smoothly exploring new markets, Chongqing Customs and Singapore Customs have conducted multiple rounds of consultations. In March of this year, Chongqing's animal derived product regulatory system passed Singapore's regional access certification for the first time, and Dejia was officially approved to export five types of animal derived canned products, including pork, poultry, beef, lamb, and eggs, to Singapore.
ASEAN has always been our key target market for deep cultivation, "said Wang Danyu, General Manager of Dejia." Next, we plan to compete for more international orders by participating in food exhibitions in ASEAN countries
The China ASEAN SPS cooperation, as an important platform for both sides to promote agricultural and food product trade, is not only a link to connect the market, but also a bridge to enhance people's livelihood and well-being. ”At the 9th China ASEAN SPS Cooperation Ministerial Meeting held recently, the head of the General Administration of Customs introduced that ASEAN has maintained its position as the largest trading partner of China's agricultural and food products for 8 consecutive years. In the first ten months of this year, the trade volume of agricultural and food products between China and ASEAN reached 51.3 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 8.9%.
