Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport was awarded the title of "International Health Airport"
On November 20-21, after a two-day on-site evaluation and acceptance by the World Health Organization (WHO), Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport was officially awarded the title of "International Health Airport" by the WHO and the General Administration of Customs. This marks the international recognition of the core public health capacity construction level of Qingdao Airport Port, and the port's public health governance and joint prevention and control capabilities have entered the world's advanced ranks. It will further enhance the port's core competitiveness and provide solid airport support for Qingdao to implement its opening-up strategy and build an international gateway hub city.
The expert group of the World Health Organization conducted a systematic and comprehensive evaluation and inspection of the quarantine and inspection, emergency response to public health emergencies, food and drinking water hygiene, public place hygiene, solid and liquid waste treatment, vector organism monitoring and control, sanitation treatment, technical support and other capabilities of Qingdao Airport Port through listening to reports on health creation work, on-site inspections, and reviewing ledger materials.
According to the evaluation of the expert group, Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport fully fulfills its obligations under the International Health Regulations (2005), and meets the standards and requirements of international health airports in risk prevention and control, emergency response, technical support, and other aspects. Subsequently, Zhao Ge, the Chief Engineer of the General Administration of Customs, awarded the "International Health Airport" plaque to Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport.
International Health Airport "is an authoritative international certification by the World Health Organization for the health, safety, and control capabilities of international air ports, and is a globally recognized" golden signboard "for aviation health and safety. Creating an "international health airport" can not only effectively prevent, resist, and control the international spread of diseases, provide a better and safer travel environment for inbound and outbound passengers, but also help the airport enhance its international competitiveness, attract more international routes and logistics resources, and lay a solid foundation for Qingdao to build a new open economic highland and create an airport economic circle.
Since the launch of the Qingdao Municipal Government's sanitation work in March 2023, under the guidance of the Municipal Health Work Special Team, the Municipal Government Office (Municipal Port Office), Qingdao Customs and its affiliated Qingdao Jiaodong Airport Customs, Qingdao Customs Technical Center, as well as Jiaozhou Municipal Government, Airport Group and other units have strictly followed the principle of "government led, enterprise led, customs supervisor, multi-party linkage", improved the construction of emergency response system and mechanism, built a comprehensive joint prevention and control pattern, deeply integrated health quarantine into the customs clearance process, and created a seamless customs clearance environment for passengers. At the same time, strict implementation of food safety control, construction of a full chain monitoring system for drinking water "water source pipe network terminal", in-depth implementation of hygiene rectification, optimization of vector control system, establishment of standardized, normalized, and green disposal processes for solid and liquid waste, and assistance in continuously enhancing the ecological environment carrying capacity of Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport and significantly improving the public health risk prevention capability.
