Germany's business climate index for November decreased month on month
Berlin, November 24th (Xinhua) - According to data released by the Munich Institute for Economic Research in Germany on the 24th, after seasonal adjustment, the German business climate index for November fell from 88.4 points last month to 88.1 points. After the first decline of the year in September, the index has fallen again this month.
The data shows that among the four indicators that make up the business climate index, except for the service industry indicator which increased month on month, the manufacturing, construction, and trade indicators all decreased. The Munich Economic Research Institute stated in a statement that manufacturing companies have reported a decrease in orders and are becoming more cautious about their expectations for the coming months; Retailers are also disappointed with the sales performance at the beginning of the Christmas season.
Clemens Fest, director of the Munich Economic Research Institute, said that business confidence in Germany has weakened again, especially reflected in more cautious expectations for future market development. Overall, there are still doubts about whether the German economy can recover in the short term.
Carsten Brzeski, head of macro research at Dutch International Group, believes that the implementation of multiple fiscal measures announced by Germany earlier this year has not progressed as expected, and the related optimism continues to weaken, which has had an impact on business and consumer confidence. At the same time, factors such as US tariffs and the strengthening of the euro have intensified export pressure on Germany, and the economy is still showing a stagnant trend at the end of the year.
The Munich Economic Research Institute's Business Sentiment Index is regarded as a barometer of Germany's economic development and has important reference value for observing the economic situation in Germany.
