The annual import volume of cross-border e-commerce in Yiwu has exceeded 100 million for the first time

On the morning of December 3rd, a cross-border e-commerce online purchase of bonded imported goods was reviewed and released by Yiwu Customs under Hangzhou Customs, and then sent from Yiwu Bonded Logistics Center to the purchased consumers. This is the 100 millionth cross-border e-commerce imported commodity released by Yiwu Customs this year, and also the first time that the annual import list of Yiwu cross-border e-commerce has exceeded 100 million.

The cross-border e-commerce online shopping bonded import business in Yiwu began in 2019. At the beginning of that year, Yiwu Bonded Logistics Center imported cross-border e-commerce goods for the first time through the cross-border e-commerce online shopping bonded mode. The annual import volume was about 8.7 million orders, and the following year exceeded 25 million orders. Since then, the scale of cross-border e-commerce imports in Yiwu has continued to expand. The operation of the Yiwu Comprehensive Bonded Zone in 2021 has provided a larger platform for cross-border e-commerce imports in Yiwu. In 2023, the annual cross-border e-commerce import volume in Yiwu exceeded 60 million orders, and in 2024, it exceeded 80 million orders, achieving rapid growth. Nowadays, the scale of bonded imports for cross-border e-commerce online shopping in Yiwu has achieved a leap from "tens of millions" to "billions", becoming an important growth point for Yiwu to "buy globally".

As the world's largest small commodity distribution center, Yiwu has a rich variety of goods, a mature and diverse logistics network, and an efficient distribution system. Coupled with lower logistics costs, it has become a favorable factor for the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce in Yiwu. The imported cross-border e-commerce products mainly include health products, cosmetics, infant formula, and toys, covering more than 70000 types of goods from 74 countries around the world. At present, Yiwu Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Yiwu Bonded Logistics Center have gathered 121 cross-border e-commerce enterprises, and top cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Tmall Global and JD International have set up logistics center warehouses here.

The response of the customs in customs clearance is very fast, and the logistics throughout our domestic and international processes are very smooth, "said Li Hao, General Manager of Yiwu Huihang Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. Since its establishment in Yiwu in 2018, the company has achieved an average annual sales growth rate of 25%, and its logistics cost and speed advantages have given the company confidence in its future development.

The implementation of cross-border e-commerce reform measures has further promoted the acceleration of cross-border e-commerce imports. The "One Point Return Nationwide" cross-border e-commerce import return policy, which was previously piloted in Hangzhou, has been replicated and promoted in Yiwu. As a result, e-commerce companies in Yiwu can concentrate on processing returned goods from consumers across the country, reducing operating costs while safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of consumers to "return all goods that should be returned". At the same time, Yiwu Customs has simplified the registration process for cross-border e-commerce product promotions, expanded the coverage of tariff guarantee insurance, and further assisted cross-border e-commerce enterprises in reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

The continuously expanding import volume has put forward higher requirements for customs clearance efficiency. Yiwu Customs has launched the "Sensorless Checkpoint" smart supervision measure in Yiwu Comprehensive Bonded Zone. When freight vehicles pass through the checkpoint, they are weighed by a weighing scale, and the license plate recognition system can instantly complete information verification, allowing them to be released in less than 10 seconds. During peak hours, checkpoint vehicles can achieve "zero stop, second release". (Pan Majun/Text)
