Li Qiang holds talks with Zambian President Hicklema
Xinhua News Agency, Lusaka, November 20 (Reporters: Ying Qiang and Peng Tianxiao) - On the morning of November 20 local time, Premier Li Qiang held talks with President Hichilema of Zambia at the Presidential Palace in Zambia.
Li Qiang first conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to President Chishila. Li Qiang stated that China and Zambia are good brothers, good friends, and good partners. Last year, the two countries jointly celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and President Xi Jinping held a meeting with President during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which provided a new plan and guidance for the deepening and development of the relations between China and Zambia. China is willing to further consolidate the political mutual trust with Zambia, firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, continuously enrich the content of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, work together to advance the cause of modernization, build a more close community of destiny between China and Zambia, and better benefit the people of both countries.

Li Qiang pointed out that China is willing to work with Zambia to take the opportunity of the implementation of zero tariff measures in Zambia. We should expand bilateral trade, tap the potential of co-operation in mining, new energy resources vehicles and artificial intelligence, and enhance co-operation in health, agricultural and human resources development and other areas of people's livelihood. The two sides should take the "China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchange" in 2026 as an opportunity to close friendly exchanges at all levels, deepen exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, tourism and other fields, and strengthen the public support for cooperation between the two countries. China is willing to strengthen judicial, police and law enforcement cooperation with Zambia to enhance the security of cooperation between the two countries. The activation of the Tzara railway is the common aspiration of the people of China, Tzara and Tzara. The three sides should jointly build this landmark project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, strengthen policy coordination, and jointly carry out the comprehensive follow-up development, so as to promote better development of countries and regions along the routes. At present, unilateralism and protectionism are becoming more and more intense, which seriously impacts the international system and the world economy. China and the ROK should strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation, and work with the wider global South to safeguard international economic and trade order, fairness and justice, and safeguard common interests.
Chichimema asked Li Qiang to convey his cordial greetings and good wishes to President Xi Jinping and warmly congratulate the successful opening of the Fourth Plenary Session of the Communist Party of China. Chichimema said that the friendship between China and China has evolved over time and was created by the older generation of leaders of the two countries. I reached important consensus with President Xi Jinping on deepening China-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Zambia firmly adheres to the one-China principle and firmly supports the just cause of the Chinese people to oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and strive to complete national reunification. Zambia is willing to maintain traditional friendship with China, close high-level exchanges, expand cooperation in trade, investment, minerals, agriculture, infrastructure construction and people-to-people exchanges, do the follow-up work on the revitalization of the Tanzania-Zambia railway, improve the effectiveness of economic development along the railway line, and promote the building of a community with a shared future between Zambia and China. Zambia is willing to continue to deepen cooperation with China within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and actively implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit. The Zambian side highly appreciates the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and is willing to strengthen multilateral coordination with China to jointly safeguard multilateralism and free trade.
After the talks, the two leaders jointly witnessed the signing of cooperation documents in such areas as Belt and Road cooperation, personnel exchange, green minerals, and public information.
