The Ministry of Commerce thoroughly implements the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and promotes the sustained and healthy development of e-commerce in China. From January to October 2025, China's e-commerce will play a positive role in boosting consumption and benefiting people's livelihoods, promoting the construction of a modern industrial system, and expanding high-level opening up to the outside world, continuously releasing new momentum for business development.

Digital consumption helps expand domestic demand and benefit people's livelihoods. Digital consumption and quality e-commerce create new demand through new supply, constantly stimulating consumption potential. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the online retail sales in China increased by 9.6% year-on-year from January to October. The growth of smart products, network services, and instant e-commerce is impressive. According to business big data monitoring, the zero value of smart wearables such as AI glasses and smartwatches has increased by 23.1%, and the consumption of network services has increased by 21%. Among them, the online coupon offline experience of in store catering has increased by 25.1%, and the demand for convenient consumption in instant e-commerce has increased by 24.3% in sales.

Industrial e-commerce supports the digital transformation. Huiqi docking enhances the digital transformation and flexible manufacturing capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises. Major e-commerce platforms have conducted over 400 industrial e-commerce docking sessions, driving the growth of e-commerce transaction volume in key monitored industries such as textiles and pharmaceuticals by 5.5% and 3.4%, respectively. Holding the "Digital Commerce Promotes Agriculture" event in Shandong, linking Shanxi, Gansu, Jiangxi and other places, promoting e-commerce to empower the sales of characteristic agricultural products. According to business big data monitoring, agricultural products and rural online retail sales increased by 9.5% and 7.5% respectively from January to October.

Silk Road e-commerce helps share the Chinese market. To create a new practice of high-quality co construction of the "the Belt and Road", 12 innovative practice cases were formed in the construction of the "Silk Road E-commerce" cooperation pilot area and replicated and promoted nationwide. The 36 events of "Silk Road E-commerce Benefiting the World" have promoted the Chinese market to become a global opportunity. The "Silk Road Cloud Products" e-commerce month was launched during the 8th China International Import Expo, and featured events such as "African Goods", "ASEAN Goods", "SCO Cloud Products", and "Buy in BRICS" were held at the same time, linking e-commerce platforms, brand enterprises, partner country pavilions, and offline business districts to promote the import of high-quality overseas products. From January to October, the sales of imported goods on key monitoring platforms increased by 8.9%, with sales of Uzbekistan candy and Thai mangosteen increasing by 73.7% and 39.9% respectively.
