World Trade Organization: Under the shadow of tariffs, various economies have successively introduced trade facilitation measures
According to CCTV News, the latest G20 trade measures report released by the World Trade Organization on November 13 shows that from mid October 2024 to mid October 2025, the trade volume of G20 members affected by tariffs increased by about four times compared to the previous reporting period, setting a record for the largest increase in WTO trade monitoring history. At the same time, the measures taken by each member to promote trade (in terms of value) have also doubled.
Although the global trading system is experiencing its most severe impact in 80 years, trade has shown considerable resilience, and trade between most WTO members remains normal. This latest monitoring report provides new data and shows the actual situation. We have seen a significant increase in the impact of protectionist measures on world trade. At the same time, we have also seen many trade facilitation measures, which reflect members' desire to reduce trade costs, even though trade barriers in other regions are rising. It is gratifying that we see continuous dialogue. WTO members should seize this opportunity to reform and reposition the WTO to make trade more stable
