Canadian Prime Minister: Ready to continue pushing forward trade negotiations with the United States

On the 26th local time, Canadian Prime Minister Carney, who is currently on a visit to Malaysia, responded to recent US Canada trade issues by stating that the Canadian government is prepared to make large-scale investments domestically and promote trade diversification. Canada plans to more than double its exports to non US markets over the next decade, with a value exceeding CAD 300 billion. He also stated that the Canadian government is ready to continue promoting trade negotiations with the United States at any time.

US President Trump announced on the 25th of this month that he has decided to impose an additional 10% tariff on Canada due to "false advertising" created by former US President Reagan using negative comments about tariffs.

On the 22nd of this month, Carney stated in his speech that Canada is facing a critical moment, as the United States has fundamentally changed its trade practices and raised tariffs to the level of the Great Depression in the 1930s, which means that Canada's economic strategy needs to undergo significant changes. Canada plans to promote domestic construction and investment, and expand exports to partners around the world, doubling exports to markets outside the United States in the next decade.
