From January to August, Fujian's imports from ASEAN exceeded 100 billion yuan, setting a new historical high for the same period
This year marks the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and ASEAN. Leveraging the advantages of the Maritime Silk Road core area, ASEAN has long been Fujian's largest trading partner, and Fujian's import trade from ASEAN continues to heat up. According to Xiamen Customs statistics, from January to August, Fujian imported 107.58 billion yuan from ASEAN, a year-on-year increase of 17%, and the import value reached a new high in the same period of history. The import growth rate has achieved double-digit growth for five consecutive months, surpassing the 100 billion yuan mark one month earlier than last year.
According to officials from Xiamen Customs, the position of private enterprises as the backbone of foreign trade continues to consolidate. According to statistics, from January to August, private enterprises in Fujian imported 63.57 billion yuan from ASEAN, a year-on-year increase of 38.4%, accounting for over 50% of the province's total imports from ASEAN during the same period, driving a 19.2 percentage point increase in the province's imports from ASEAN. During the same period, state-owned enterprises in Fujian imported 29 billion yuan from ASEAN, accounting for 27%; Foreign invested enterprises imported 14.99 billion yuan from ASEAN, a year-on-year increase of 33.6%, accounting for 13.9%.
Data shows that Indonesia is the largest source of imports from ASEAN for Fujian. From January to August, Fujian imported 57.63 billion yuan from Indonesia, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%, accounting for 53.6% of the province's total import value from ASEAN during the same period. During the same period, imports from Vietnam and the Philippines achieved rapid expansion, with Fujian importing 16.62 billion yuan and 7.51 billion yuan respectively, a significant increase of 58.9% and 77.9% year-on-year, accounting for a total of 22.4%.
From the perspective of imported categories, the import of agricultural products, mechanical and electrical products, and other products shows a diversified growth pattern. According to officials from Xiamen Customs, from January to August, Fujian imported agricultural products worth 15.52 billion yuan from ASEAN, a year-on-year increase of 17.3%, accounting for 14.4% of the province's total import value from ASEAN during the same period; Among them, the main imported aquatic products were 4.39 billion yuan and edible oil was 3.24 billion yuan, with year-on-year growth of 53.3% and 89.7% respectively. During the same period, Fujian imported 14.99 billion yuan of electromechanical products from ASEAN, a significant increase of 82% year-on-year, accounting for 13.9%; Among them, the import value of parts and accessories for automatic data processing equipment was 4.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3 times.
