The Russian government announces partial lifting of diesel export ban

Moscow, October 10th (Xinhua) -- The Russian government announced on October 10th that it has partially lifted the ban on diesel exports from Russia. The decision will take effect on the same day, during which Russia will supply 500000 tons of diesel to the international market.

The Russian government announced that the decision aims to implement the agreement reached between Russian President Putin and US President Trump recently. To implement the decision, Russian oil companies will immediately begin signing diesel export contracts with foreign partners after consulting with the government.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak stated that the decision will not harm the interests of Russian consumers. Novak said that diesel fuel in Russia is produced from Russian crude oil in domestic refineries. Its production capacity can meet both domestic market demand and supply diesel of the above-mentioned scale to the international market.

On October 9th, Putin had a phone conversation with Trump. Putin released a statement on the President's official website that evening, stating that during discussions on the global energy situation, Russia confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the United States and global markets. Novak subsequently stated that Russia will immediately begin early lifting of diesel export restrictions.

On the 9th, Trump announced through social media that he had a call with Putin and agreed that Russia would immediately provide over 300000 tons of diesel to the US and global markets, with an additional 500000 tons to be provided in November. Afterwards, the Russian side will also provide 1 million tons of diesel to the market. The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department issued a licensing announcement on the 9th, authorizing the sale, delivery, unloading, or import of Russian diesel. This authorization will continue until April 7, 2027 Eastern Time.
