A new situation has emerged in practical cooperation between China and Jordan - visit to Jordan's Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Gouda

Jordan's Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Gouda, recently stated in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that practical cooperation between the two countries in various industries has ushered in a new situation, and the strong political relationship between the two sides has extended to the economic field, establishing more substantive partnerships in industries such as industry, energy, trade, information technology, and tourism.

Guda visited China with King Abdullah II of Jordan in August. He said that during the visit, the development level of China's economy and enterprises left a deep impression on the Jordanian delegation. China attaches great importance to technological development and deeply integrates technological progress with industrial development, which gives the Chinese economy a strong competitive advantage.

Guda stated that China is Jordan's largest source of imports. In the next stage, both sides can further deepen cooperation, continuously expand commodity trade, promote Chinese enterprises to carry out direct investment, establish joint ventures and implement common projects in Jordan, and strive to form cooperation for regional and even global markets.

According to Guda, the recent signing of multiple agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two sides is expected to further promote trade facilitation, especially in helping Jordanian products enter the Chinese market, and also help Jordan attract Chinese investment. He stated that Arab products, including dates and olive oil, have many opportunities in the Chinese market, and there is also room for growth in Jordan's fertilizer exports to China.

Guda said that Jordan is forming a comprehensive working group to follow up on the results of this visit and seek direct cooperation opportunities with Chinese companies. The project focuses on the industrial sector, especially making full use of China's rich experience to achieve full process manufacturing of solar panels in Jordan. In addition, it also includes cooperation in areas such as fiber optic industry and automotive assembly.

Regarding how to utilize Chinese technology and experience to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian products in the global market, Guda stated that Jordan can benefit from three aspects, including China's direct investment in Jordanian industries, energy, and information technology, participation in major projects being implemented in Jordan, and the empowerment of Jordanian industries with advanced Chinese knowledge and technology.

Guda also stated that Jordan plays an important role in the regional logistics network, and about 80% of the imported goods arriving at the port of Aqaba are not sold to the Jordanian market. He looks forward to deeper cooperation with China in the logistics field in the future.

In terms of tourism, Guda said that Jordan is working hard to improve its infrastructure to attract Chinese tourists, including improving the electronic payment system widely used by Chinese tourists.
