The federal and provincial governments of Canada prohibit small businesses and companies from entering their government procurement market, while Canada has broad access to the vast government procurement market in the United States.

The report stated that this measure further intensified the trade dispute between the two countries.

According to previous reports, the White House announced in July that the US government has imposed a 50% tariff on hundreds of specific goods imported from Canada, including red wine, hockey sticks, and cement, under Section 338 of the Smoot Hawley Tariff Act. The relevant measures will come into effect on August 22nd. As a retaliation, Canada announced the implementation of retaliatory tariffs on the United States starting from September 8th.
