This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. Starting from May 1st, China has fully implemented zero tariff measures for African countries with diplomatic relations, including Egypt, injecting new impetus into bilateral trade. According to statistics from Ningbo Customs, in the first seven months of this year, Ningbo's imports and exports to Egypt amounted to 4.09 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%. Among them, imports to Egypt amounted to 380 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%, with particularly prominent growth in imported metal ores, mineral sands, and copper materials; Exports to Egypt amounted to 3.71 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.4%, with mechanical and electrical products and labor products being the main export commodities to Egypt.
Ningbo Luyou Import and Export Co., Ltd. has imported multiple batches of fresh citrus fruits from Egypt since the beginning of this year. The customs will develop an agricultural product data analysis model, which will keep abreast of the dynamic changes in the import situation in real time, and carry out policy interpretation for key imported goods in Africa. It will identify key tariff reducing goods, analyze the "enjoy but not enjoy" declaration situation on a daily basis, set up an import agricultural product consultation hotline, and ensure direct and fast access to zero tariff measures for African countries with diplomatic relations. Data shows that since the implementation of the zero tariff measures, Ningbo Customs has processed 34 batches of guaranteed release for imported goods from Egypt, with a total value of 37.51 million yuan.
