On the first day of the sea opening, major aquatic animal farms and transfer sites in Yantai entered a busy production mode. In the workshop of Yantai Haima Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., workers are busy screening, sorting, weighing, and boxing. Batch after batch of plump and fresh octopuses have passed quarantine inspection and are ready to go.

The overseas market has extremely high requirements for the freshness of octopus, with high transportation temperatures and long customs clearance times, which can lead to a decrease in octopus vitality and damage to its appearance, directly affecting export revenue, "said Zhong Qiang, the general manager of the company.

We have opened a 'green channel' for local inspection of fresh and perishable agricultural and food products, implemented the 'advance declaration, priority inspection' mode, expanded the remote inspection scope to export edible aquatic animals, compressed the customs clearance time, and firmly locked in the best freshness, "said Wang Mingliang, Deputy Director of the Inspection Department of the Yantai Customs Office in Zhifu. The customs has also established a long-term working mechanism to assist enterprises, introduced the main laws, regulations, and standard requirements of importing countries to enterprises, guided and improved self inspection and self-control, traceability management, and risk prevention and control systems, enhanced the compliance ability of enterprises in exports, and firmly adhered to the bottom line of quality and safety.

Since the beginning of this year, the Yantai Customs jurisdiction has exported over 2600 tons of fresh aquatic animals. After the start of the fishing season, the checkpoint will continue to optimize technical assistance measures and fully escort the fresh release of edible aquatic animals to the sea.
