From January to June 2026, China's total import and export of services amounted to 3779.75 billion yuan (RMB), a year-on-year increase of 8.3%. Among them, exports amounted to 1504.7 billion yuan, an increase of 17.6%; Imports amounted to 2275.05 billion yuan, an increase of 2.9%. The trade deficit in services was 7703.5 billion yuan, a decrease of 161.42 billion yuan compared to the same period last year. The main characteristics are as follows:
The proportion of knowledge intensive service exports exceeds half. From January to June, the import and export of knowledge intensive services reached 1663.4 billion yuan, an increase of 6.7%, accounting for 44% of the total import and export of services. The export of knowledge intensive services reached 805.67 billion yuan, an increase of 12.8%, accounting for 53.5% of the total service export. Among them, the export of personal cultural and entertainment services and intellectual property usage fees grew the fastest, with growth rates of 57.2% and 44.3%, respectively. The import of knowledge intensive services reached 857.73 billion yuan, an increase of 1.4%.
The export of travel services and the import of transportation services have grown rapidly. From January to June, the export of travel services reached 229.2 billion yuan, an increase of 31.1%, with the fastest growth rate among the top five service export sectors; The import of transportation services reached 498.1 billion yuan, an increase of 30.4%, with the fastest growth rate among the top five service import sectors.
