Hangzhou Airport imports Icelandic salmon for the first time

On the morning of August 2nd, a cargo flight loaded with nearly 12 tons of Icelandic salmon landed at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. Under the supervision of the customs at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport, this batch of fresh seafood products quickly completed customs clearance procedures. This is the first time that Hangzhou Airport has imported Icelandic salmon, providing a new option for the high-quality fresh food market in the Yangtze River Delta.
Icelandic salmon has a tight texture and rich oil content, which is highly recognized in the high-end market. However, it has extremely high requirements for customs clearance time and temperature control, "said Chen Min, the customs director of Hangzhou Hande International Freight Forwarding Co., Ltd." The smooth clearance of the first shipment gives us the confidence to introduce more high-quality overseas aquatic products into the domestic market
With the continuous increase in demand for high-quality chilled aquatic products among domestic consumers, the cold chain trade at Hangzhou Airport has grown significantly. In the first half of this year, the customs at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport supervised a total of 1625 batches and 7738.68 tons of imported chilled aquatic products, an increase of 3.7 times and 3.9 times year-on-year, respectively. The import volume has exceeded the annual scale of last year. From Norway to Chile and then to Iceland, more and more "cross seafood flavors" are reaching the dining tables of citizens in the Yangtze River Delta through the Hangzhou airport port.
In order to ensure the freshness and quality of imported fresh food, Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport Customs has opened a "green channel" for customs clearance, providing "7 × 24" 24/7 guarantee, promoting early declaration, paperless customs clearance, "conditional departure" and other modes, and realizing "on-demand inspection" of incoming fresh food. The inspection process also introduced AI intelligent glasses assistance, relying on the professional temperature controlled designated supervision site adjacent to the apron, to efficiently complete the processes of certificate verification, quarantine inspection, sampling and inspection.
