UK plans to impose import and export trade ban on illegal Israeli settlements
London, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Chris Bryant, Secretary of State for Trade at the UK Department of Commerce and Trade, confirmed on the 15th that the UK government is working on a ban on import and export trade targeting illegal Israeli settlements.
Bryant pointed out that all import and export activities, including trade in goods and services, will be prohibited. But he did not disclose the specific time when the ban policy was introduced.
For a long time, the British government has opposed Israel's establishment of illegal settlements in the West Bank and other areas, believing that these settlements violate international law.
British "Prime Minister elect" Burnham stated in an interview with The Guardian on the 9th that if he takes office as Prime Minister, he will exert more pressure on the Israeli government, including imposing sanctions on individuals and entities, and possibly banning goods trade with illegal Israeli settlements.
