In the first half of the year, Fujian's total import and export value to BRICS countries reached 97.18 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%, accounting for 9.8% of the province's total import and export value during the same period. Among them, exports amounted to 68.89 billion yuan, which was basically the same as the previous year; Imports amounted to 28.29 billion yuan, an increase of 18.1%.
Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia rank among the top three trade markets for Fujian to BRICS countries, with imports and exports of 39.25 billion yuan, 24.69 billion yuan, and 23.15 billion yuan respectively, accounting for 89.6% of the province's total import and export value to BRICS countries during the same period; The import and export value of Nigeria, Bolivia, and Cuba has significantly increased, with imports and exports of 5.53 billion, 590 million, and 210 million yuan, respectively, increasing by 42.6%, 58.9%, and 88.7%.
Private enterprises are the main force in exploring the markets of BRICS countries, with imports and exports to BRICS countries reaching 68.46 billion yuan, an increase of 10.2%, accounting for over 70%.
In terms of exports, the growth of electrical equipment and steel is strong. In the first half of the year, Fujian exported 4.69 billion yuan of electrical equipment to BRICS countries, an increase of 22.5%; The export of steel reached 1.74 billion yuan, an increase of 72.5%. Among them, the export growth rates of electrical control devices, angle steel and section steel, and steel sheet were impressive, increasing by 129.9%, 114.6%, and 76.5% respectively. In addition, the export of central processing components reached a historic high for the same period, with exports of 410 million yuan, an increase of 322.9%.
In terms of imports, Fujian continues to optimize the structure of imported goods from BRICS countries, releasing demand for mechanical and electrical products, high-quality agricultural products, and other imports. In the first half of the year, Fujian imported 6.64 billion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products from BRICS countries, an increase of 45.5%; Imported edible aquatic products amounted to 1.28 billion yuan, an increase of 91.9%. It is worth noting that global investment in AI infrastructure continues to increase, driving the growth of imports of related raw materials and equipment in Fujian. In the first half of the year, imports of unprocessed copper and copper materials amounted to 1.57 billion yuan, an increase of 17.1 times; The import of computers and their components reached 3.24 billion yuan, an increase of 252.3%, both setting a new historical high for the same period.
