China Council for the Promotion of International Trade: Global Economic and Trade Friction Index Remains High in April
This morning (June 30th), the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade held its monthly press conference to release the latest trade friction data, which showed that the global economic and trade friction index remained high in April.
From the comprehensive index, the global economic and trade friction index for April 2026 is 106, which is at a high level. The amount involved in global economic and trade friction measures decreased by 28.7% year-on-year and increased by 5% month on month.
From the perspective of country indices, among the 20 countries (regions) monitored, the United States, India, and the European Union rank among the top three in terms of global economic and trade friction index. The United States continues to strengthen its unilateral sanctions tools, expand the scope of 232 steel and aluminum tariffs, and release the "Special 301 Report", resulting in the United States consistently ranking first in the amount of global economic and trade friction measures involved.
Wang Yifei, spokesperson for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, introduced that from the perspective of industry indices, among the 13 major industries within the monitoring scope, the conflict points of economic and trade friction measures focus on the electronics, chemical, mechanical equipment, transportation equipment, light industry, and pharmaceutical industries, with the electronics industry ranking first in terms of economic and trade friction index.
The issuance of various certificates by the trade promotion system in May increased by 12.14% year-on-year
At the press conference of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, it was learned that in May, the national trade promotion system issued 717000 certificates of origin, ATA Carnets, and other types of certificates, an increase of 12.14% year-on-year.
Among them, the non preferential certificate of origin visa amount in the national trade promotion system was 30.256 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 14.36%; The amount of preferential certificate of origin visas was 11.066 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 43.89%; The RCEP Certificate of Origin visa amount was 872 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 36.21%.
Wang Yifei, spokesperson for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, introduced that the continuous and significant increase in the amount of certificates of origin and visas in the national trade promotion system fully reflects the strong performance of China's foreign trade imports and exports, and the overall stable growth trend. At the same time, it also reflects China's active deepening of pragmatic cooperation with global economic and trade partners. The "circle of friends" of foreign trade enterprises is becoming larger and larger, and China's foreign trade products and formats are competing for "intelligence" and "novelty", demonstrating strong development resilience and vitality.
