The 34th China New Zealand Joint Economic and Trade Commission was held
On June 5th, Li Chenggang, International Trade Negotiator and Deputy Minister of Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce, and Mao Rui, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand, co chaired the 34th China New Zealand Joint Economic and Trade Committee in Beijing, exchanging in-depth views on deepening bilateral economic and trade relations and strengthening regional and multilateral cooperation.
Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, the potential of China Singapore economic and trade cooperation continues to be unleashed. Both sides should fully leverage the role of the Joint Committee mechanism, further promote trade and investment cooperation, and jointly advance the negotiations on the negative list of service trade in the free trade agreement.
Li Chenggang pointed out that in the current international economic and trade situation, China and Singapore should jointly defend the multilateral trading system centered on the World Trade Organization, strengthen cooperation under regional frameworks such as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, and inject more "positive energy" into regional and even global stability and prosperity.
Mao Rui stated that China has long maintained its position as New Zealand's largest trading partner and the largest source of international students. The current international situation is complex and ever-changing, and sustained and stable growth of the Chinese economy is crucial for Singapore. New Zealand is willing to continue expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation, accelerate negotiations on the negative list of service trade, and welcome more Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in New Zealand. New Zealand congratulates China on successfully hosting the APEC Trade Ministers' Meeting and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China in regional and multilateral mechanisms.
