The China Singapore Economic and Trade Promotion Conference helps promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries
Auckland, New Zealand, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Several economic and trade cooperation projects between China and New Zealand were held on the 13th in Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, to promote bilateral economic and trade exchanges.
At the promotion conference, relevant parties presented video presentations and introduced their participation plans around the 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), the 21st China International SME Expo, the 2026 New Zealand China Commodity Expo, and the Guangdong Commodity South Pacific Island (Fiji) Exhibition.
John Cochrane, President of the New Zealand China Trade Association, stated in an interview at the promotion event that in its early days, the association mainly served New Zealand importers to participate in the Chinese market. Now, it has gradually shifted to supporting the development of two-way trade and assisting Chinese enterprises in expanding the New Zealand market. Cochran believes that the economic and trade cooperation projects recommended on that day provide an opportunity for mutual benefit and friendship between China and Singapore.
Wang Chengguang, Director of the Business Office of the Chinese Consulate General in Auckland, stated that China's high-quality development and high-level opening-up have created vast opportunities for cooperation among countries around the world, including New Zealand. The healthy and stable development of China New Zealand relations has created a favorable environment for economic and trade exchanges between the two sides. New Zealand Chinese businessmen have made unique contributions to New Zealand's economic and social development as well as bilateral friendly cooperation.
Kevin O'Leary, General Manager of the North Port Business Association, and Bret O'Leary, National President of the New Zealand China Friendship Association, shared their practices and willingness to participate in friendly economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
This promotion event is hosted by the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand and attended by business and friendly people from both countries. Wang Jiazheng, President of the New Zealand Guangdong Chamber of Commerce, stated that the chamber will continue to organize economic and trade exchange activities between China and New Zealand as well as in the region, to assist enterprises from both countries in participating in multilateral economic and trade cooperation.
