The 22nd meeting of the China Chile Economic and Trade Joint Committee was held in Beijing
On May 25th, Li Chenggang, International Trade Negotiator and Deputy Minister of Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce, and Esteves, Deputy Minister of International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, co chaired the 22nd meeting of the China Chile Economic and Trade Joint Committee in Beijing, exchanging in-depth views on deepening bilateral economic and trade relations, strengthening regional and multilateral cooperation, and other areas.
Li Chenggang stated that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Chile. China is willing to work with Chile to fully leverage the leading role of the Economic and Trade Joint Committee mechanism in bilateral economic and trade cooperation, continuously deepen practical cooperation, and hopes that Chile will provide a fair, just, and non discriminatory environment for Chinese enterprises to operate in Chile.
Li Chenggang pointed out that China and Chile have carried out effective cooperation in multilateral occasions. There are many external environmental variables and rising geopolitical risks at present. Both sides should strengthen coordination and cooperation in the multilateral field, firmly uphold the multilateral trading system, support the World Trade Organization to play a greater role, and strengthen cooperation under regional mechanisms such as APEC.
Esteves stated that the Chilean side attaches great importance to developing relations with China. China is Chile's largest trading partner and an important source of investment, and bilateral economic and trade cooperation is of great strategic significance to Chile. The Chilean side is willing to continue deepening bilateral trade and investment cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination under the multilateral framework, and promote the development of pragmatic cooperation between Chile and China to a higher level.
