Qingmao Customs seized a passenger who illegally carried HKD 219000 out of the country

On March 16th, Qingmao Customs seized a passenger carrying HKD 219000 in violation of regulations at the travel inspection exit channel.

In the early morning of that day, when the customs officers were supervising the outbound passengers, they found that one passenger's carry on luggage was abnormal, so they intercepted and inspected it. Further on-site inspection revealed that a total of 219000 Hong Kong dollars, equivalent to approximately 194000 Chinese yuan, were found in the passenger's shoulder bag. After verification, the passenger is a passenger who has left the country multiple times within 15 days.

Customs reminder: According to relevant regulations, the limit for first-time outbound passengers to carry Hong Kong dollars within 15 days is equivalent to 5000 US dollars; Passengers who leave the country for the second time or more within 15 days and for the second time or more on the same day are allowed to carry cash equivalent to no more than 1000 US dollars and 500 US dollars respectively. Customs clearance will not be granted if the amount exceeds the limit. If it is necessary to carry a large amount of cash beyond the limit, one should apply for a foreign exchange exit permit from the foreign exchange management department or bank in advance.
